Zurich Insurance Group is launching a dedicated life science insurance offering from July 2026, expanding its established U.S. capabilities across key European markets: Belgium, Denmark, France, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the United Kingdom.
Zurich explained that the product is needed because life science companies are expanding internationally at an earlier stage to support clinical development and global commercialization, exposing businesses to multiple regulatory regimes and more complex operational and supply chain risks.
“Life sciences companies operate in an environment of rapid innovation, regulatory complexity and evolving risks as they scale,” said Luciano Ciriná, CEO Commercial Insurance International, in a statement. “As these businesses move from discovery to global commercialization, they require insurance protection that reflects that evolution and delivers consistent cover across markets.”
Zurich said the new solution combines its specialist underwriting with leading risk engineering and claims capabilities to address the sector’s critical risk exposures, spanning product liability, property, business interruption, as well as marine and accident & health. It offers end-to-end protection across the life sciences value chain through locally admitted and globally coordinated coverage programs.
As part of the offering, Zurich Resilience Solutions provides targeted consultancy and risk engineering support to help life sciences companies strengthen their operational resilience and risk management.
Zurich said the launch is aligned with its strategic focus to grow its presence in the European middle market segment.
