The Michigan Office of Financial and Insurance Services (OFIS) launched a website to provide information on the financial institution, securities and insurance industries.
Financial and Insurance Services Commissioner Frank M. Fitzgerald said the new site includes a variety of services from complaint forms to a “how-to” investment section. Fitzgerald commented that the site will provide information for both consumers and the industries that the OFIS regulates quickly and efficiently.
Upon order of Governor Engler, in April of 2000 the Insurance Bureau, Financial Institutions Bureau, and Securities Divisions of the Corporation, Securities and Land Development Bureau merged into the OFIS. The websites representing the former offices have now merged into the new site representing the OFIS.
A second stage of development is planned for the website, which includes an OFIS enforcement report listing all regulatory actions, complaint ratios for insurance companies and database access to allow users to look up industry information.
The new OFIS site is located at www.cis.state.mi.us/ofis
