Acordia Uses CoverageConnect Technology to Connect with AIG

January 28, 2002

Chicago-based insurance broker Acordia Inc. has announced the installation of a real-time link with AIG using CoverageConnect web-based insurance diagnostic, quoting and binding application software.

Acordia has been working with CoverageConnect, a multi-carrier commercial lines quoting platform, for over a year. Charles L. Ruoff, senior vice president and chief marketing officer of Acordia, said the product has denonstrated its ability to be both a beneficial and successful resource in providing consultative selling to the company’s small commercial insurance accounts.

The online risk management diagnostics built by CoverageConnect allow Acordia brokers to provide cost-efficient consultative services to all clients, with quoting and binding accounts on a single visit. Ruoff said Acordia hopes to be online with Zurich and Travelers within a few months and has other national carriers also slated for the first half of 2002. Acordia plans to work with as many carriers as possible, including regional carriers, during the deployment of this online quoting technology.

Ruoff added once the CoverageConnect technology rollout to its small commercial and Community Accounts business is completed, the technology will be expanded to Acordia’s middle market business. Discussions have begun with a number of Acordia’s middle market carriers, including some carriers already working on small commercial accounts.

Other carriers with whom Acordia plans a middle market deployment include Chubb, Atlantic Mutual, Royal & SunAlliance and CNA, each of whom are middle-market focused and are part of Acordia’s Millennium Partnership and Preferred Market programs.
