The Board of Directors of Arthur J. Gallagher & Co. announced that it has elected Elbert O. Hand to serve on the Company’s Board for a term expiring in 2005. The company’s shareholders will be asked to ratify his appointment at the 2003 Annual Shareholders’ Meeting.
Hand, the Chairman of Hartmarx Corporation, has 30 years of business experience, 20 years of which have been at the executive level. He also serves on the Board of Directors of Austin Reed PLC; is a member of both the University of Illinois at Chicago Chancellor’s Advisory Board and Northwestern University’s Kellogg Advisory Board, as well as serving on numerous other civic and charitable committees.
President and CEO J. Patrick Gallagher, Jr. stated: “We are extremely pleased to have an individual of this caliber on our Board of Directors. Bert Hand’s many years of successful executive-level business experience will be a significant addition to our Gallagher team.
