Cobalt Corporation has named Lorna J. Granger as its Senior VP, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary, effective February 3, 2003. She will direct the legal staff for Cobalt and its subsidiary, Blue Cross & Blue Shield United of Wisconsin.
Granger succeeds Stephen E. Bablitch, who became Cobalt’s Chairman and CEO on December 1, 2002.
“Lorna Granger’s 25 years of legal expertise combined with her management credentials make her an excellent choice as Cobalt Corporation’s general counsel,” Bablitch stated. “She will work with Cobalt’s legal department to ensure that we receive the very best in legal services.”
“Granger most recently served as managing partner of the Milwaukee and Waukesha offices of Michael Best & Friedrich LLP where she had the administrative responsibility for approximately 150 attorneys and 150 staff members. She was also responsible for opening the firm’s Waukesha office in May of 2002 and served as Chair of the 2003 Objectives Committee at the firm’s Milwaukee office. In addition to her management duties, Granger practiced law with the firm’s Health Care Group. Her areas of expertise include corporate and regulatory compliance; Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement; mergers, acquisitions and joint ventures; and contracting,” said the announcement.
