State Auto Elects Assistant VP

The boards of directors of Columbus, Ohio-based State Automobile Mutual Insurance Co. and State Auto Property & Casualty Insurance Co. have named Steven E. English an assistant vice president of the companies.

English is State Auto’s director of financial planning. He was chief financial officer and treasurer for the Meridian Insurance Group at the time Meridian was acquired by State Auto in June 2001. Prior to joining Meridian in August 2000, English was vice president of planning with Conseco Corp. He began his financial services career with Coopers & Lybrand in 1982, attaining the position of audit manager. He is a CPA, a fellow of the Life Management Institute and a member of the finance committee of the Indiana Fair Plan.

The State Auto Insurance Cos. are engaged primarily in writing both personal and commercial lines of insurance. State Auto currently markets its products through more than 22,000 independent agents associated with approximately 3,400 agencies in 26 Central and Eastern states, excluding New York, New Jersey and the New England states. The State Auto Insurance Cos.’ pool carries an “A+” (superior) rating from A.M. Best Co.
