FirstComp Insurance Company, a provider of workers’ compensation insurance to small- and medium-sized businesses nationwide, for the second consecutive year has been named by Inc. Magazine to its Top 500 list of fastest-growing private companies.
FirstComp, founded in 1997 and headquartered in Omaha, moved up 200 slots on the esteemed list–from 455 in 2004 to 255 this year. Over the three-year reporting period considered for the award, FirstComp’s revenues rose 479 percent to $100.8 million in 2004.
The Inc. 500 ranks privately held companies according to year-over-year sales growth from 2001 to 2004.
FirstComp Insurance Company provides monoline workers’ compensation insurance coverage for more than 30,000 small- and medium-sized “main street” businesses through more than 3,500 independent insurance agencies in 22 states. Started in 1997 with three employees, FirstComp now employs more than 150 people with offices in Omaha, NE and Providence, R.I.
