Farm Bureau Mutual Insurance Co., Kansas Farm Bureau and Kiowa County Farm Bureau are teaming together to rebuild the office they share in Greensburg.
Ground was broken today for a new building that will include extra space the Kiowa County Farm Bureau will make available to community organizations as the rebuilding in Greensburg continues. This is one of the first rebuilding projects in Greensburg since an F-5 tornado struck the area on May 4th leveling almost 90 percent of the town.
Farm Bureau Mutual Executive Vice President Bruce Trost; Steve Baccus, chairman of the board of directors for Farm Bureau Mutual Insurance Co. and Kansas Farm Bureau president; and Farm Bureau Mutual board member Keith Miller organized and supervised the joint initiative. The building site was leveled, building permits issued and ground was broken less than one month after the devastating tornado that leveled Greensburg.
“Farm Bureau is a vital part of the Greensburg and Kiowa County community, and we intend to lead the way in rebuilding the town,” Baccus said.
“In the wake of the destruction the storm caused, we have a responsibility to the people of Greensburg to help them through this time of recovery and rebuilding,” Trost said. “One way we can do that is to continue to be available in that community.”
