Medical malpractice insurer, Missouri Hospital Plan, announced that it will pay a record dividend of $13.9 million to its Missouri policyholders in July.
Missouri Hospital Plan is a membership association that insures not-for-profit Missouri hospitals and their employed physicians. Its charter allows for profit sharing and the current dividend is a return of 2009 profits, amounting to one half of the company’s 2009 direct written premium.
This is the sixth consecutive year that Missouri Hospital Plan has paid such a dividend, now totaling $61.4 million since 2004.
