Progressive Named a Best Company to Work For in Ohio

September 14, 2010

After her son was born, Denise Elliott looked forward to going back to work, but she also wanted to spend more time with her baby than just nights and weekends. So Elliott, a real estate manager at Progressive car insurance, took advantage of the company’s flexible work arrangements so she could have the best of both worlds.

“I was able to change my work schedule so I could work three days a week and spend two days a week at home with my son,” Elliott said. “As a female professional, it means a lot to work for a company where I can balance my work and home lives.”

Flexible work arrangements, performance bonuses, and on-site medical facilities are among the reasons Progressive earned a spot on the NorthCoast 99, an annual list honoring 99 Northeast Ohio companies that attract, retain, and motivate employees in Northeast Ohio.

Progressive is based in Mayfield Village, Ohio.

The Employers Resource Council, Northeast Ohio’s largest employers’ association, gives out the award. Progressive also received a special category award for sustainability.

“We’ve found that employees with career development goals and a healthy work/life balance are motivated and productive,” said Val Krasowski, Progressive’s chief human resources officer. “Our commitment to our employees helps us create a positive work environment and a dedicated workforce.”
