People would be able to drink alcohol on certain pedal-powered vehicles under legislation going to Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder for consideration.
The state House on June 18 gave final approval to the two bills.
The bills would allow alcohol to be served on commercial, open-air, pedal-powered vehicles, sometimes referred to as pedal pubs, so long as the vehicle’s owner has liability insurance. Having open alcohol on the vehicles could still be prohibited by local laws.
Supporters say pedal pubs are becoming increasingly popular modes of transportation around Michigan for shuttling passengers between tourist attractions such as breweries and wineries.
