A consumer advocacy organization says Terre Haute is the Indiana city with the fewest distracted and drunken driving fatalities.
The Tribune-Star reports that ConsumerAffairs conducted a nationwide study using the latest available data from 2014 National Highway Traffic Safety Administration fatality statistics. The organization used the information to create an interactive map designed to help auto insurance consumers gauge the risks in their own communities.
ConsumerAffairs ranked Terre Haute first out of 14 cities in Indiana for the fewest per capita distracted driving-related deaths. Terre Haute ranked first out of 38 Indiana cities for the fewest per capita alcohol-related driving fatalities.
But the city ranked ninth out of 46 communities in Indiana per capita speeding deaths.
