State records show that former Southeast Missouri State University baseball player Broc Kreitler settled a lawsuit over an injury he suffered during a practice for $200,000.
The Southeast Missourian reports that the settlement was reached earlier this year, although the only details disclosed in court filings were attorney fees. The Missouri Attorney General’s Office disclosed the settlement in its online legal expense fund report.
The lawsuit said Kreitler was pitching behind an L-shaped pitcher’s screen during a March 2015 practice when a ball hit by a teammate bounced through a hole in the screen, striking him in the face. The suit accused the university of “negligence.”
The university argued in a court document that Kreitler failed to check the screen’s ties and straps to make sure they were properly attached.
