A North Dakota doctor who won a $1.2 million jury award against a Bismarck clinic in a retaliation case should collect more than $2.1 million after a federal judge settled post-trial disputes.
Dr. Robert Roswick sued Mid Dakota Clinic in 2017 claiming he was unjustly disciplined for publicly opposing the firing of an Indian American physician. A jury ruled the clinic had retaliated against him and awarded him lost wages and benefits.
The Bismarck Tribune reports the updated amount comes from U.S. District Judge Ann Montgomery’s decision to award Roswick additional money for lost future earnings, attorney fees and costs, interest on back pay and interest on the jury award from the date of judgment until payment is made.
Mid Dakota Clinic said in a statement it disagrees with the decision and is considering its next steps.
