A church bus and an SUV crashed on Feb. 2 in Ohio, and the bus driver died, the State Highway Patrol said.
The patrol’s Lebanon post reported the crash occurred around 9:30 a.m. on Dixie Highway in Warren County’s Franklin Township. The SUV driver was treated for minor injuries, and some passengers were treated for injuries that weren’t life-threatening, the patrol said in a release.
About 25 people, ranging in age from 2 months to 41 years were on the bus, according to the patrol. Troopers identified the bus driver as 59-year-old Archie L. Cheesman, of Butler County.
The preliminary investigation indicated the bus was northbound on Dixie Highway and the SUV was eastbound on Manchester Road when the crash occurred, according to the patrol.
The SUV came to rest on the road, and the bus went off the road and struck a traffic sign and a utility pole, troopers said. Cheesman died at the scene, according to the release.
Troopers were continuing their investigation into the cause of the crash.
