The American Insurance Association (AIA) expressed its approval of Virginia’s recent adoption of legislative language ensuring the inclusion of consumers in electronic commerce legislation. Virginia’s version of the Uniform Electronic Transaction Act (UETA) was the subject of a Jan. 27 hearing in the House Science and Technology Committee.
The AIA also applauded the introduction in the Virginia legislature of SB 587 on Jan. 24. The purpose of the bill is to reduce government regulation of commercial insurance.
