People Moves: Chubb Appoints Execs in Construction, A&H; Hippo Adds to Legal & Compliance; Alleyne Named Chief Legal Officer at Munich Re US

Chubb has appointed Lyndsey Christofer as executive vice president, Construction Industry Practice Leader for its large account segment. In this capacity, she will oversee a team of construction underwriting and service specialists across multiple lines of business. In addition, she will have oversight of Chubb’s primary casualty and excess liability line of business for large account construction clients.

Christofer will be based in New York and report to Matt Merna, senior vice president, Chubb Group, division president, Chubb North America Major Accounts.

Christofer brings close to two decades of actuarial and underwriting experience to this expanded role, having held several underwriting leadership positions throughout her career. Prior to this appointment, she served as Senior Vice President, Underwriting, where she was the primary casualty division lead for Chubb’s Construction Industry Practice.

Chubb also announced two leadership appointments in its North America Accident and Health (A&H) business.

Effective immediately, Suresh Krishnan, Chubb’s current chief operating officer, North America Accident and Health, has been named executive vice president, head of North America Specialty Accident and Health. In this expanded role, he will look to grow this business segment which offers accident and health insurance to businesses, educational institutions and affinity groups.

Krishnan will continue to report to Chris Martin, division president of North America Accident and Health.

Krishnan joined Chubb in 1999 and has held a variety of executive-level positions. Previously, he served as head of Chubb European Group’s Major Accounts Division, where he led the development of business strategies and metrics. Prior to the ACE acquisition of Chubb in 2016, he led Chubb’s Overseas General Insurance Division’s multinational and large accounts strategy. This included leading and managing the Global Client Executive Practice for Chubb’s Overseas General Insurance Division.

Reporting to Krishnan will be Lauren Gorte, who has been named chief operating officer, Specialty Accident and Health. She will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies that focus on multinational travel accident and medical, business travel accident, and special risk business lines along with leading the retail field sales and underwriting teams. Prior to this appointment, Gorte served as Chubb’s Errors and Omissions (E&O) product manager.

Gorte joined Chubb in 2009 as a professional associate. She has close to a decade of production and field management experience in both the E&O and cyber product lines. Throughout her career at Chubb, she has held a variety of leadership positions, heading up the Midwest region’s underwriting team and overseeing the Western region for E&O and Cyber, as well as managing the company’s real estate E&O portfolio.

Hippo

Hippo announced four key leadership appointments to its legal and compliance team with combined expertise in reinsurance, insurance compliance, governance, national warranty, and federal securities laws.

The new team members include Susan Linder, Hippo’s deputy general counsel of growth, an experienced legal executive, most recently the assistant general counsel for Warranty & Alternative Risks at CNA Insurance, and prior to that general counsel for Toyota’s Insurance Management Solutions; Laura Hoensch, Hippo’s affiliate Spinnaker Insurance Company’s new general counsel, an experienced attorney in the insurance industry, where she most recently was general counsel, chief compliance officer and head of government and regulatory affairs for Digital Partners, a Munich Re company; Moya McKenna, Hippo’s Insurance compliance counsel, who specializes in state insurance regulation and state regulatory compliance and joins the company from the law firm of Duane Morris LLP and previously the Texas Department of Insurance, where she was assistant director, Office of Financial Counsel; and Anna Berces, Hippo’s assistant general counsel, who joins from Postmates Inc., where she served as senior counsel, focusing on a variety of litigation, product compliance, and public company compliance and readiness matters. Prior to Postmates, she was with Latham & Watkins LLP where she handled SEC related matters and litigation.

Munich Re America Services

Richard Alleyne has been appointed to chief legal officer, Munich Re US P&C Companies. Alleyne will be based in Hartford, Conn. and report to Adrienne Mageras, chief operating officer for Munich Re America Services Inc., based in Princeton, N.J., with reporting responsibilities also to Tony Kuczinski, CEO of Munich Re US Holding.

Alleyne brings over two decades of corporate experience across all lines of insurance, claims, reinsurance and litigation to Munich Re US P&C Companies. Most recently, he served as deputy general counsel and head of the Business Law Group for an insurance and financial services organization. In that role, he led a highly experienced team of legal professionals providing strategic and tactical support to the Property & Casualty and Group Benefits business.
