The Hartford said it is promoting Prateek Chhabra to chief risk officer, succeeding Robert Paiano who will retire from the company at the end of the year.
Chhabra, who since 2018 has held the role of senior vice president and chief insurance risk officer, will start as CRO on September 1. He will report to CEO Christopher Swift.

Swift said Chhabra “has advanced our risk management capabilities, driven innovation and implemented strategic improvements across our enterprise making him ideally suited for the role of chief risk officer.”
Before joining The Hartford, Chhabra was CRO for domestic businesses at The Hanover Insurance Group.
Paiano will assume an advisory role to help with the transition, The Hartford said. He spent 29 years with the insurer. Prior to his role as CRO, Paiano was The Hartford’s treasurer.
