A Springdale, Ark., insurance agent has won the Republican nomination in Arkansas for lieutenant governor.
Mark Darr will face state Sen. Shane Broadway in the fall to take over the No. 2 spot vacated by Bill Halter, who’s challenging U.S. Sen. Blanche Lincoln in a Democratic runoff.
According to unofficial results, Darr won 52 percent of the vote over Donnie Copeland, who got almost 48 percent. That’s with 90 percent of precincts reporting late on May 18.
Darr owns The Mad Pizza Co. in Rogers and is an agent for Wealthbridge Financial Services. Copeland is a pastor at Apostolic Church in North Little Rock.
Broadway faced no Democratic opponent for the position.
