The Fort Worth Chapter of CPCU announced that during the past 14 years, it has donated $181,000 in total scholarships to University of North Texas students in the Risk Management and Insurance program.
The group recently hosted its 15th annual golf tournament, a primary source for scholarship funding.
“We help these RMI students network with industry professionals and encourage them to enter the insurance and risk management field through these scholarships,” noted Rhonda Pumphrey, president of the Fort Worth Chapter.
RMI students Desiree Binion, Amelia Bourassa, Ashleigh Buchanan, Walter Filmore IV, Ian Machaud, Jacob Mitzel, Jin Na, Addison Weiss and Candace Williams helped with registration, photos, and raffle tickets. They were able to thank personally all those who came to play golf in support of scholarships.
In addition to the general scholarship funds raised, a separate annual scholarship will be established in honor of the late Robert Purdin, a long time industry professional and supporter of insurance education and excellence. The Purdin Family very generously provided $3,000 to be awarded to an outstanding RMI student during the Fall 2011 term.
