A debate and forensics teacher at Fayetteville High School in Fayetteville, Ark., has filed a lawsuit against the district, claiming his contract was breached because administrators told him to take anger management courses.
Tim Hollis filed the suit in Washington County Circuit Court. His attorney, Ken Swindle, says Hollis sent an email to several teachers earlier this month explaining their rights because they reportedly felt intimidated by the school’s principal.
The lawsuit claims that Superintendent Vicki Thomas told Hollis to apologize for the email, then barred him from school functions until he completed an anger management class.
District spokesman Alan Wilbourn declined to comment to the Northwest Arkansas Times saying he cannot comment on pending litigation.
Hollis has been a teacher for 34 years — 27 of those in Fayetteville.
