A former inmate who was freed from prison has filed a federal lawsuit against the city of Tulsa, Okla., and two convicted police investigators, claiming they fabricated a search warrant and staged “bogus and sham charges” against him.
The complaint, filed late in Tulsa federal court, is at least the 12th to be brought against the city and several police officers who were caught up in a police corruption probe that sent a police officer and an ATF agent to prison last year.
Nearly 45 people have been freed from prison or had sentences reduced as a result of the probe, which began around 2008 and produced charges against six former and current police officers and the ATF agent.
Three of those men were acquitted in separate trials last year.
