Officials say New Orleans and St. Bernard Parish are to receive $14.3 million in hurricane recovery grants related to Hurricane Katrina.
A joint announcement about the latest Katrina-related aid came from Sen. May Landrieu, Rep. Cedric Richmond and New Orleans Mayor Mitch Landrieu. It said more than $9 million will go for street repairs in the Lower 9th Ward, Lakeview and Milneburg neighborhoods in New Orleans.
Nearly $5 million will go to St. Bernard Parish for work on its Sanitary Sewage Collection System.
The grants are provided by the Federal Emergency Management Agency Hazard Mitigation Program.
