An insurance company is asking a Pulaski County, Ark., judge to declare it has no responsibility to pay court judgments against the homeowners policy of a follower of imprisoned evangelist Tony Alamo.
The judgments are based on allegations that 71-year-old Sanford Carl White of Fouke participated in the abuse of children under the direction of Alamo’s ministry.
Alamo is serving a 175-year federal prison sentence for transporting girls, some as young as 8 that he claimed to have married, across state lines for sex.
Farm Bureau Mutual Insurance Co. of Arkansas filed the request to cancel White’s insurance policy, contending the Whites lied on their application, including by promising that no one in the household had been arrested on a felony charge and that they would be the only residents.
