Concord, N.C. Police Officer Dana Lynn Beninati has been suspended without pay after allegedly passing fake prescriptions and billing her insurance company. Lynn was arrested at her home and charged with 23 counts of prescription and 23 counts of insurance fraud and one count of attempted prescription fraud.
According to Police Chief Merl Hamilton, a Concord physician called police on May 20th and said Beninati might have filled illegal prescriptions for hydrocodone, a narcotic painkiller, at several pharmacies.
Beninati had been with the Concord Police Department since 2002. She is being held in the Cabarrus County Jail under $10,000 secured bond. She is scheduled to appear in court today.
