PIA of Florida Announces Its 2006 Continuing Education Class Lineup

January 13, 2006

A wide variety of continuing education courses to be taught in various Florida locations during 2006 have been announced by the Tallahassee-based Professional Insurance Agents of Florida.

The curriculum includes classes that address fundamentals of insurance designed for producers and CSRs, advanced training classes for insurance professionals and mandatory CE courses.

Fundamental classes include all of the Certified Insurance Service Representatives (CISR) classes: Personal Residential, Personal Auto, Commercial Property, Commercial Casualty, Agency Operations, Dynamics of Service, and William T. Hold Seminars (formerly Advanced Learning Seminars).

If a student completes the first five classes within three years (and passes the exams), he or she can receive the CISR designation and earn Florida’s 4-40 license. Regardless, the classes are a great opportunity to gain needed professional development and/or CE, even if the participant is not interested in receiving the CISR designation.

Advanced training classes include the Certified Insurance Counselors (CIC) institutes designed for insurance professionals: Personal Lines, Commercial Property, Commerical Casualty, Agency Management and Life & Health. If a student completes these five CIC institutes (and passes the exams), he or she receives the prestigious CIC designation. CIC graduates can attend the popular James K. Ruble Graduate Seminars.

The Florida Department of Financial Services requires that agents satisfy a three-hour Ethics requirement. PIA of Florida offers a three-hour Ethics course in eight different locations in Florida this year.

PIA of Florida has scheduled classes from February to November in locations across the state, including Fort Lauderdale, Gainesville, Marco Island, Miami, Orlando, Sarasota, St. Augustine, Tallahassee and Tampa.
