Tropical Storm Beryl was moving slowly to the north and was not intensifying at 11 p.m. est, according to the National Hurricane Center.
Initial intensity has kept from 35 to 40 mph, however NHC predicted a chance of some strengthening before Beryl moves over cooler water. Some strengthening is possible in the next 24 hours.
A tropical storm watch remains in effect for the eastern coast of
North Carolina from north of Cape Lookout northward to south of
Currituck Beach light.
The center of Beryl was near latitude 34.1 north, longitude 73.6 west or about 130 miles southeast of Cape Hatteras, N.C.
Beryl is moving toward the north near 7 mph and this motion is expected to continue through Wednesday.
Tropical storm force winds extend outward up to 70 miles to the north and east of the center.
