Insurance Related Fraud Results in Arrest and Arraignment for 2 in W. Va.

West Virginia Insurance Commission officials arrested two Logan County women last week for alleged computer fraud and forgery.

Lisa K. Hall, 26, of Man, and Cynthia B. Hall, age unknown, of Mitchell Heights, were charged with one felony count of computer fraud and one misdemeanor count of forgery.

These arrests were made as a result of an investigation conducted by Investigator P.D. Clemens of the Offices of the Insurance Commissioner’s Fraud Unit.

Allegedly Cynthia B. Hall, who was then employed at Bray and Oakley Insurance Co., conspired with Lisa K. Hall to manufacture a fraudulent certificate of automobile insurance to send to the Department of Motor Vehicles in order to prevent Lisa K. Hall’s license from being suspended for not having insurance for her vehicle.

Both women have been arraigned and posted the necessary bond and were released pending trial. If convicted, each felony count carries a one to 10-year sentence in a state penitentiary and up to a $10,000 fine, or both. Each misdemeanor count carries up to a year in jail and up to a $2,500 fine, or both.
