The rising Mississippi River is causing the Isle of Capri Casino to temporarily close its doors in Natchez, Miss.
Assistant City Engineer David Atkins said it was decided at a Saturday evening meeting that the casino would close at 3 a.m. on Sunday.
Officials say the casino was essentially forced to close since the city will be closing D.A. Biglane, where the boat is docked, due to safety concerns.
Casino general manager Jack Sours said the closure would bring a financial blow to the city and the casino. He said employees will continue to be paid while the boat is closed.
Officials say they don’t know how long the casino will remain closed.
