The wife of a South Carolina Highway Patrol trooper has been charged with setting her home on fire and lying to officials.
Paula L. Rose has been charged with third-degree arson for a fire at her home in July. Rose also is charged with burning personal property to defraud an insurer, making a false insurance claim to obtain benefits and filing a false police report.
Investigators said Rose filed an insurance claim with State Farm Insurance Co. on the fire and received insurance benefits.
Greenville County sheriff’s deputies said Rose called 911 to say three men were in her garage. She later said the house was on fire.
It was not clear if she has a lawyer. Her husband, Trooper Homer Rose III, was not home at the time.
