A Belmont, North Carolina woman charged with hitting and killing a pedestrian has apologized.
Forty-five-year-old Belinda Strange Hudspeth apologized to the victim’s family in court on Monday.
Seventy-five-year-old Lavon Ramsey died Saturday when she was struck by a SUV on a street in Belmont.
The North Carolina Highway Patrol said Hudspeth was texting while driving and was impaired on prescription medication when the wreck occurred.
Investigators said her SUV ran off the right side of the road and hit Ramsey outside her home.
