The Louisville, Ky., Metropolitan Sewer District board has approved $1 million of a proposed $3 million settlement in an effort to buy out a group of repeated flood victims, while Metro Council leadership and Mayor Greg Fischer were making no promises to provide their share of city funding.
The Courier Journal reports a recent recommendation from a work group created by Fischer and Metro Council President David Tandy was that the financial burden be shared with $1 million each from MSD and Metro government and any insurance distressed homeowners have.
The work group had envisioned a $3 million buyout program aimed at helping out the owners of up to 30 homes that repeatedly flood and were greatly damaged by high water in March and April.
