A bar in Columbia, S.C., has been accused of serving so much alcohol to one of its underage patrons that he became extremely intoxicated and crashed his motorcycle, killing a 19-year-old woman who was riding with him.
The State of Columbia reported March 21 that the father of crash victim Caitlin Clark has filed a lawsuit against the Tin Roof bar.
The lawsuit says 20-year-old James Gainey Jr. drank heavily at the bar on the night of Aug. 7 and continued drinking until about 1 a.m. on Aug. 8. Gainey then left the bar on his motorcycle, picked up Clark and then crashed the motorcycle, killing Clark.
Gainey has pleaded not guilty to felony DUI charges.
WACH-TV reports that Tin Roof’s attorneys say the allegations are false.
