A woman whose son was one of four people killed at a Waffle House in Tennessee has filed a $100 million wrongful death lawsuit against the suspect and his father.
The Tennessean reports Shaundelle Brooks filed the suit Wednesday on behalf of 23-year-old Akilah DaSilva. Police say 29-year-old Travis Reinking used an AR-15-style rifle to open fire at the Nashville restaurant April 22.
Defendants are Reinking and his father, Jeffrey Reinking of Illinois. The suit said Jeffrey Reinking’s decision to turn over guns to his son despite instructions from law enforcement makes him responsible for his son’s actions. Travis Reinking faces four homicide charges.
The Reinkings’ lawyers didn’t immediately respond to requests for comment.
Another lawsuit was filed in May against Jeffrey Reinking by another victim’s family.
