Georgia law enforcement authorities were searching for a Lawrenceville woman who allegedly submitted fabricated medical records in an auto insurance claim in an effort to collect $15,000, the state insurance commissioner said.
The insurer was not named in the bulletin by Commissioner John King. He said warrants were issued Feb. 12 for Alreda Eugenia Moore, 40, who was involved in an accident in 2022.
She submitted the hospital records to her insurer but after an investigation, “it was determined that Ms. Moore completely fabricated the medical records from Northside Gwinnett Hospital,” King said in a statement. “The suspect did not receive treatment for any injuries related to the auto accident, and the forms contained several pieces of information that did not belong to her. In total, Ms. Moore attempted to collect nearly $15,000 through her fraudulent claim.”
Meanwhile, in North Carolina, a Charlotte woman was charged with insurance fraud after falsely claiming she was driving her car when it was involved in an accident.
Laverne Love Johnson Peebles, 33, submitted a false claim to Sentry Insurance Co., state Insurance Commissioner Mike Causey said in a statement. In fact, Peebles was not in the vehicle when the crash occurred, Causey noted.
She is set to appear in court Feb. 29.
