Seven years after he was named president and CEO of transportation insurer Canal Insurance, Paul Brocklebank has an additional title to his name – chairman of the board of the Greenville, South Carolina, company.

The move comes after several years of strong growth for Canal, including the addition of more than 85 employees and a new corporate headquarters in Greenville in 2021. Brocklebank will continue his role as CEO and will succeed Lanse Crane as chairman, the company said in a news release.
Crane stepped down recently after 16 years in the role. Nancy Lyon Callahan, a vice president with SAP, the software and tech firm, also was named to the board in January.
Canal, rated “A-” by the A.M. Best financial rating firm, was founded more than 80 years ago. It specializes in commercial trucking and specialty transportation coverage.
