The city of Concord, Calif. has agreed to pay $750,000 to settle a sexual harassment lawsuit filed by a former police officer.
The City Council voted to pay $250,000 to Lisa Capocci and $500,000 to her attorney, Stan Casper. City officials told the Contra Costa Times that the city’s insurance will cover the cost.
Capocci accused a supervisor of sexual advances. She said when she complained, the supervisor and his colleagues retaliated against her by requesting internal affairs investigations.
Capocci quit her job in July.
The city said the investigations were warranted, and the supervisor was disciplined.
As part of the settlement, Casper is not allowed to file another sex harassment suit against Concord. He has represented several other female officers in suits against the city.
