Mercury Insurance Partners With Dodgers for Fifth Year

May 3, 2011

When it comes to reaching potential customers, Mercury Insurance is confident the Dodgers will help them score more business. That’s why the Los Angeles-based company, which specializes in personal auto and homeowners insurance, has partnered with the ballclub for the fifth consecutive year.

“The Dodgers are one of the most storied teams in all of sports,” said Erik Thompson, Mercury advertising director. “They have an incredibly loyal fan base, draw more than 3 million fans a year and have been a major part of the Los Angeles community for more than five decades. We’ve enjoyed a terrific relationship with the team for the past five years and this sponsorship has been a big business driver for Mercury.”

Mercury is running two special consumer promotions for Dodger fans: the “Pick Your Prize” sweepstakes and “Get a Quote, Get a Pair of Dodger Tickets” deal. The promotions allow fans to register online at www.dodgers.com/mercury to win premium prizes ranging from season tickets to being on the field for batting practice. Besides the Dodgers’ Web site, Mercury is also using Facebook and Twitter to reach fans, as the company focuses on acquiring insurance quotes and new business.

Thompson said it’s fitting the two companies are partners because they share a history. “The Dodgers moved into Chavez Ravine in 1962, the same year Mercury insurance opened its doors for business. In 2012, we’ll both celebrate 50 great years of serving the Los Angeles-area community.”

Mercury, the third largest private-passenger auto insurance company in California, also is the title sponsor for the July 30-Aug. 7 Mercury Insurance Open, the Women’s Tennis Association tour stop in Carlsbad, Calif., and a sponsor of the LA Kings.
