A former city councilman from eastern Idaho who resigned earlier this year then left the state is back in Idaho and charged with two felonies.
The Post Register reported that Lawrence Blackburn was arraigned in 7th District Court Friday on grand theft and insurance fraud.
Blackburn is the former president of the Rigby City Council.
He resigned Feb. 5 and moved out of state. He was picked up last month on a warrant in Arizona and recently returned to authorities in Jefferson County.
The criminal charges were filed by the Idaho Attorney General’s Office, which took over the investigation after the county prosecutor declared a conflict of interest.
Blackburn is accused of falsely identifying himself in the estate of a 91-year-old woman and taking money from the woman.
