The U.S. Geological Survey says there was a magnitude-5.7 earthquake in the western Aleutian Islands but it wasn’t felt by any Alaska communities.
The quake hit early Saturday at a depth of about 6 miles. The epicenter was near the Andreanof Islands, about 121 miles southeast of Atka.
Atka is more than 1,100 miles southwest of Anchorage.
The Alaska Earthquake Center says there were no reports of the earthquake being felt or causing any damage.
