Stuart Dobbie

Stuart Dobbie was appointed president and chief executive officer of Dallas-based Maclean, Oddy & Associates. The appointment is effective Jan. 1.

Nancy Peterson

He succeeds Roy B. Oddy, who has held the title of chairman and CEO since the formation of the company in 1983.

Tim Malhoit

Dobbie was born and educated in England and began his insurance career with the Sedgwick Group, London, where he worked in the North American Division and was active in Lloyd’s market during the 1970s. In 1982 he relocated to Texas and worked for Swett & Crawford, Dallas, before joining Maclean, Oddy in 1983.

Jennifer Hisaw

KMC Insurance Services Inc., a member of the Curley Insurance Group, based in Dallas, named Nancy Peterson as president of the company. In this position Petersen will be in charge of commercial lines, as well as the KMC’s newly created personal lines division. Peterson has held executive positions with insurance agencies for many years, most recently with the McCall Agency and TCT Insurance.

Brett Kilburn

Team Insurance Group, based in Tulsa, Okla., added Tim Malhoit as a vice president. Prior to joining Team, Malhoit was with Seabury & Smith, a Marsh Inc. subsidiary, where he served as vice president in the Tulsa office. Malhoit has 21 years of industry experience. During his career, Malhoit has worked in every aspect of the business, including acting as sales leader; contracting with providers and insurance carriers; managing a third-party administrator; selling; managing key client relationships; training; and overseeing office operations.

Team recently began implementing a growth strategy, which includes recruiting high-impact salespeople, the acquisition of insurance agencies, and recruiting established agents and purchasing their books of business.

Pacific Wholesale Insurance of Texas, based in Dallas, has added four staff members: Jennifer Hisaw, Brett Kilburn, Kirsten Labauve and Travis Reynolds.

Hisaw joins the firm as senior underwriter/broker and will work with all commercial lines. She has had previous associations with wholesale and retail organizations in Atlanta and New Orleans.

Kilburn also comes to Pacific Wholesale as senior underwriter/broker. She has 12 years’ experience in the field, having held similar positions with other MGA/brokerage firms.

Labauve joins the company as associate underwriter and Travis Reynolds as associate broker. Labauve formerly served other well-known wholesalers in this capacity for 24 years. Reynolds was previously connected with an online brokerage organization.

Pacific Wholesale is a member of Insurance Specialty Group (ISG), based in Atlanta.

Richard S. Petty has joined Wm. Rigg Co., based in Fort Worth, Texas, as vice president. Petty will focus on creating custom employee benefits packages for businesses and institutions throughout the greater Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex. His responsibilities will also include writing property and casualty insurance for new and existing clients.

Prior to joining Wm. Rigg, Petty specialized in long-term care coverage and new business development for the long-term care division of Marketing Group, an insurance brokerage service firm. Before entering the insurance industry, Petty spent 18 years on staff at Young Life, a non-profit agency committed to changing children’s lives by providing a strong, positive in¾uence.

The Rigg Group is a Texas holding company with interests in insurance, underwriting, brokerage and premium finance.

Oklahoma Rep. Ron Peterson R-Broken Arrow is the new chairman of the Oklahoma House Insurance Committee. He was appointed to the position by House Speaker-elect Todd Hiett, R-Kellyville. Peterson, who was recently elected to his third term in the state House, has served as a member of the committee for two years.

The first session of the 50th state Legislature convenes Feb. 7, 2005.

David P. Battard joined Hibernia Insurance as senior vice president and manager of its new Dallas insurance office. He has 25 years of insurance experience. Battard’s focus is large construction, oil-and-gas and transportation insurance. In addition, he leads commercial insurance product development for Hibernia across Louisiana and Texas.

The American Society for Healthcare Risk Management (ASHRM) awarded Pamela L. Popp, vice president of the Healthcare Practice for McQueary Henry Bowles Troy L.L.P. (MHBT) in Dallas and Fort Worth, the designation of ASHRM Distinguished Fellow.

This award recognizes individuals for their superior achievement of professional excellence in the health care risk management profession. Popp was one of three Distinguished Fellows recognized at ASHRM’s annual meeting in Orlando, Fla.

Popp was also elected president of ASHRM for 2005 at the organization’s annual meeting. Prior to joining MHBT, Popp was vice president for claims management and insurance with Team Health in Knoxville, Tenn.

New Orleans-based Pan-American Life Insurance Company announced that Executive Vice President of Operations and Finance and Chief Financial Officer Peggy Scott, was named as the 2004 recipient of the National Financial Executive of the Year Award, sponsored by Robert Half International and the 70,000-member Institute of Management Accountants (IMA).

Scott is both the first Louisianian and the first female to win the prestigious award. Prior to joining Pan-American in 1999, Scott worked for 16 years in public accounting and consulting, having served the last six years as the managing partner of a Deloitte office and as a tax partner. She was the first woman in the company’s 100-year history to head a Deloitte office.
