Mathematical formulas are often the simplest way to express complex ideas, provided there’s an understanding of the math. The above formula works out to: D = a Disaster (any kind will do); C = the Claims (assumedly numerous) that the disaster generates; -R = the number of Recoveries that are rejected (in whole or in part) by carriers. This equals L²: the number of secondary Litigation filed as a result of the refusals.
