Years in prison to be served by Neil M. Cohen, former chairman of the New Jersey Assembly’s insurance committee, for distributing child pornography. Cohen pleaded guilty in April to charges that he looked at child pornography on a computer in a legislative district office in Union Township and printed copies of images of child pornography that he placed in the desk of a female receptionist in the office. He resigned in 2008 when the charges first became public.

Value of settlement reached between a Connecticut public school and a former gymnast who claimed in a lawsuit that her athletic career was cut short when a stack of temporary floor boards fell on her bare feet during a practice session. Kaylee Ritchie was 14 when the accident happened six years ago. Her lawyers claimed the gymnastics coach told students to set up the floor in direct violation of school policy, which said only custodial staff were allowed to do. The town’s insurance will cover most of the settlement.
