The West Virginia Supreme Court has decided that the newly created business court division will be headquartered in Martinsburg.
The business court will focus on complex issues that arise in commercial litigation such as contract and shareholder disputes, trade secrets and securities cases.
It also will relieve circuit court judges from handling novel or complex issues that they may not be trained to handle.
The court, scheduled to open Oct. 10, will have seven regions, each encompassing six to 11 counties.
