After the special investigations unit (SIU) of Golden Eagle Insurance Corp. helped gather information, nearly two dozen people working at several San Diego-based construction companies face trials for insurance fraud, payroll tax fraud and other violations.
According to Sam King, director of Golden Eagle’s SIU, many of the arrests resulted from phone calls by anonymous informants to state and local law enforcement agencies. Those indicted (along with the companies) include: Joseph Sayatovich, Janet Eileen Sayatovich and Paulette A. Reynolds of JE Painting, Lakeside; Thomas Allan Parsons, Michelle Lynn Parsons and James Robert Parsons of Parsons Framing, Riverside; Ronnie Swain, Jon Lutz and David Williams of RDS, El Cajon; Lionel Medina, Mary Anne Medina, Sang Park and Seoung Kang of Meticulous Maintenance, San Diego; Alicia Jeanne Gonzalez, Howard Aaron Sperling, Thomas William Shay III, Jeanne Frances Gonzalez, Max Sperling and Erika Murietta Sperling of AJG Services Inc., San Diego; and Morteza Rahimi, Mostafa Beheshti, Emma Luz Guerzon and Margaret Haro of Castello Inc., Escondido.
Golden Eagle was one of several insurance companies victimized by the fraudulent activity. King estimated the total loss at $5.5 million.
