Edward Troy

GAB Robins, the international claims services firm, announced that Edward G. Troy has been named president and chief executive officer of the GAB Robins Group of Companies.

Before joining GAB Robins, Troy served as president of ESIS, a risk management services company that is part of ACE USA, headquartered in Philadelphia. Prior to ESIS, Troy served as founder and president of Ed Troy Associates, a risk management company. Troy held a number of senior management positions with Liberty Mutual, AIG and CNA and he began his a career as a casualty underwriter at The Hartford.

Harleysville Insurance named the leaders of its new regional field organization, which realigns the company’s existing network of field offices into four geographic zones.

The appointments include: Clinton Bothwell, Southeast regional president; William D. Granato, Midwest regional president; Brandon J. Hickey, Mid-Atlantic regional president; and Dennis J. Otmaskin, Northeast regional president.

Thomas E. Clark is senior vice president of field operations. Clark said Harleysville would maintain its local presence in its existing markets, while adding offices in Atlanta and Chicago.

Otmaskin, regional president for Northeast (Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York, Rhode Island and Vermont) came to Harleysville in 1998 as president and chief operating officer of Harleysville Insurance Company in Minnesota. In 2000, he was named president and chief operating officer of Harleysville Worcester Insurance Company and Harleysville Insurance Company of New York. Before joining Harleysville, he was senior vice president of field operations for SECURA, a Midwest regional carrier.

Hickey is the regional president for the Mid-Atlantic (Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Virginia, as well as the District of Columbia). Before joining Harleysville, he was regional vice president of the Hartford Financial Services Group’s Washington, D.C., office. Prior to that, he was regional vice president for Hartford’s New York City office.

Granato, regional president for the Midwest, most recently was with Arthur J. Gallagher & Co., where he was chief operating officer in Chicago. Prior to that, he was with Fremont Compensation Insurance Company.

Bothwell, regional president for the Southeast, joined Harleysville in 2000 as underwriting manager of the Greensboro, N.C., branch. In 2002, he was elected vice president of Harleysville’s loss control organization and resident vice president in Nashville. Prior to joining Harleysville, he was with Liberty Mutual for 28 years.

Harvey Insurance Group, a Mid-Atlantic independent insurance brokerage, announced that Rebecca Condron joined the firm as an account executive. She will be responsible for managing and expanding large commercial lines accounts and maintaining relationships with insurance carriers and clients. Condron has more than 15 years of commercial lines experience, most recently as an account executive at BG Balmer & Company. She also worked for Commerce National Insurance Services as an account manager and marketing specialist.

At the same time, the agency appointed Michael Coffey as a producer responsible for selling existing products and expanding the company’s book of business. Coffey will be specializing in commercial insurance for small- to mid-sized businesses, including law firms, throughout the Mid-Atlantic region.

The agency’s primary territory includes Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland and New York.

Delaware Valley Underwriting Agency Inc. in Hatboro, Pa., has promoted Jon Bannett and Steve Allen to executive vice president positions.

Bannett, a DVUA employee for 25 years, is the manager of DVUA of New Jersey Inc. and DVUA of New York Inc. In Bannett’s role as executive vice president, he is the point of contact for all brokerage matters throughout the DVUA offices. His responsibilities include managing relationships with markets, quality control, assisting in market selection, differentiating between coverages and evaluating competition.

Allen has been working with DVUA for one year. As executive vice president, Allen serves as the contact person for MGA/binding authority matters. His responsibilities include market relationships, quality control, policy issuance, and new territories.

As part of this reorganization, Frank Seigel becomes responsible for all internal operations matters, including marketing/communications, policies and procedures, audits/compliance, and information technology. Siegel has been with DVUA for four years.

DVUA is a member company of United America Indemnity Ltd.

Paul Braithwaite, managing director at Navigant Consulting, has been elected as president of the Casualty Actuarial Society, and Thomas G. Myers, vice president, product management for High Point Safety and Insurance Management Corporation, has been named president-elect.

Braithwaite has been a fellow of the CAS since 1983. He has served in a variety of leadership positions for the CAS, including vice president of administration and on the board of directors. He has also served as the chairperson of several committees, including the audit committee.

Investors Underwriting Managers has named Mike Kazanjian as associate vice president marketing. Kazanjian brings to IUM more than 20 years of experience in marketing and operations, serving the insurance industry. Just prior to joining IUM, he was a consultant for Nationwide Insurance, where he assisted agents in the development and execution of business plans, market expansion endeavors and customer relationship management. There, he also helped develop best practices for Nationwide’s agency force. A wholly-owned subsidiary of the Markel Corporation, Investors Underwriting Managers Inc. in Red Bank, N.J., is a surplus lines insurance company.

PricewaterhouseCoopers in New York has named Richard L. Bennett Jr. as a director in the firm’s Insurance Risk Management Solutions practice. Bennett will work with major clients in areas involving insurance and risk management advisory services. Prior to joining PwC, Bennett worked at three of the top global insurance brokerage firms, most recently as a senior vice president advising global clients.
