Workers’ Compensation Specialist Participates in Safety Presentation

December 16, 2003

John Bohn, Home Office Loss Control Specialist for GUARD Insurance Group, participated in a recent workshop entitled Safety at Work II: Risk Management Techniques for Small Business co-sponsored by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and the National Association of Independent Insurers (NAII).

Bohn’s segment addressed workplace accident prevention and investigation, disability management programs, and protocols for placing employees returning from an injury into light- and transitional-duty positions. Other topics addressed during the four-hour event held at the Holiday Inn in Lehigh Valley, Pennsylvania, included OSHA enforcement policies and consultation services as well as information about the role of safety committees in the workplace.

“Each of the presenters offered important insights to a very receptive audience of approximately 80 small business owners and operators who I applaud for making safety a significant part of their company,” Bohn said. “I was honored to participate in this opportunity to help educate others on issues of safety and prevention.”

Bohn holds an Associate in Loss Control Management (ALCM) designation and is actively involved in a number of safety related organizations, including the American Society of Safety Engineers, the NAII Loss Control Committee, and the National Safety Council. A 25-year employee with GUARD Insurance Group, Bohn helped establish the company’s loss control services for policyholders and is the principal architect of GUARD’s Workers’ Compensation safety programs offered to clients.
