A federal judge has delayed the sentencing date for the only defendant waiting to learn his punishment for his role in a $40,000 home insurance fraud case in Rhode Island.
The sentencing hearing for Vincent DiPaolo was rescheduled to Tuesday to Nov. 30. The 62-year-old DiPaolo requested the delay, saying his defense attorney needs more time to spell out objections to a pre-sentence report.
He was originally scheduled to be sentenced on Oct. 27.
DiPaolo admitted in August that he helped a former radio personality file a bogus home insurance claim in 2010.
He faces up to 85 years in prison for one count of conspiracy and four counts mail fraud.
Two other defendants are confined to their homes and a third suspect is in federal prison.
