The chief financial officer for Prince George’s County public schools in Maryland has been placed on administrative leave after the Maryland Insurance Administration found he had committed insurance fraud.
A school system spokesman tells The Washington Post that Colby White, the top budget official for county schools, was placed on administrative leave with pay last Friday, along with his wife, Keisha White. She works for the school system as an internal auditor.
The Whites were ordered to pay $3,000 each for filing a fraudulent insurance claim for a wedding ring.
Schools spokesman Max Pugh says the school district will investigate. The Baltimore Sun first reported the suspensions.
Colby White has worked for the school system since 1995. Keisha White joined the schools in 2001. They did not return calls seeking comment.
