New Jersey-based broker World Insurance Associates reports it has acquired Sumner & Sumner, Inc., an Insurance agency in Willimantic, Connecticut.
Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
Sumner & Sumner began in 1851 as the A.W. Jillson Insurance Agency. The agency was then purchased by A.B. Adams in 1862. Eventually, new talent was brought into the agency, with George Elliot and Stanley Sumner joining the firm in 1926. Later, Summer’s brother Homer bought Elliot’s interest, and in 1947 the agency took on the name Sumner & Sumner. Today, Sumner & Sumner offers personal and commercial insurance, as well as financial products and benefits .
World Insurance Associates LLC has completed 140 acquisitions.
